1) What is pmg PassCode?

It is a password and personal data manager made for iPhone and iPodTouch. Pmg PassCode is a Hungarian development.  You can easily store your bankcard data, e-Mail access, website registration, iGoogle access as well as other user names, passwords, and client ID-s. You can sort your data by groups, and the most frequently used items can be added to your „favourites” list.

2) Where can I by this product?

This product is available in iTunes (Win/Mac) where you can always download the latest version. Important! Our program is only suitable for iPhone and iPodTouch devices and in iTunes only compatible with Apple devices. You can buy the pmgPassCode program through this link.

3) How can I download this program?

Using your device just visit AppStore and when you are on our product sheet just click on the „Price” or „BuyNow” button to download the latest version. If you are using desktop operation to buy pmg PassCode, always synchronise iTunes  with your device.

4) Languages, themes?

The program is available in three languages: English, German and Hungarian and in 9 unique graphic themes. In the „Settings” panel you can create your own settings. Just click here to reach the related gallery.

5.) Can I modify default categories?

Of course. If you are in the „New item” panel, just click on the „Edit” button to scroll the categories, and then you can easily edit and modify the unique fields as you like it. In case you do not need these categories, you can delete them by using the „Edit” button on the right corner.

6.) How can I create new categories?

In the „New item” panel click on the „+” button in the left corner.  You can add new categories to unlimited amount, or delete/modify them by using the „Edit” button. To create sub-categories (eg. Add new fields) click on the „Add new field” button than select from: one-line text, multiple-line text, Password, Date, Phone number, Website, eMail-address and give a name to the field like: „call-centre number” in case of a phone number.

7.) How can I record new password or personal data?

In the „New item” panel just go to any category that you have already created and fill out the fields. Your passwords will appear in the „Passwords” panel.

8.) What is PASSWORDS panel good for?

Here you can see your recorded data and sort them by „ABC” or „Groups”. To have a detailed look at your passwords just click on any item in the list.

9.) How can I edit/modify my existing passwords?

In the „Passwords” or „Favourites” panel select an item and go to the „Edit” icon in the right corner. When you are ready, just click on the „Save” button.

10.) How can I add my frequently used passwords to the „Favourites” panel?

If you are in the „Favourites” panel  go to the „+” button and select the item you wish to add from the entire list.

11.) How can I delete an item from the „Favourites” panel?

On the „Favourites” panel go to the „Edit” button than select an item you wish to delete by using the „Delete” button. This way the selected item will only be disappear from the „Favourites” panel and still remains in the „Passwords”.

12.) Why does not work the „Auto-Lock” function on the Settings panel?

Because you should enter a Master Password first! You can do it in the „Settings” panel.

13.) Why does not work „Data-destruction” on the Settings panel?

Because you did not record your Master Password in the „Settings” panel. In this menu you set the number of unsuccessful trials before your data will be deleted from your device (eg. your telephone has been stolen).

14.) (COMING!) How can I make a data-saving?

There are two ways to save your data:

• A) You can make a saving of your entire database and program using the Backup function of iTunes.
• B) With the Backup/Restore function you can make a safety backup each day. You find this  option in the „Settings” menu.

15.) (COMING!) How can I restore my data?

Either with the iTUnes Restore function or with the Backup/Restore option of the program where you can upload the recorded data through a web service. Your data will be stored safety.

16.) Will there be a desktop application for the program to synchronize with?

Sure. We will continuously inform you on the status of the development on our website and newsletter.

I was also in search of a really cool birthday managing program in the AppStore, but the supply was depressing. I was looking for programs with multiple functions, nice display , easy handling, but I found  displeasing displays and unhandy usage. And then came the idea to create a useful, and user-friendly application. You might have seen the design plans, hope you liked it.

pmgBirthDay – easy managing of birthdays and anniversaries!

A few words on the operation:

You will sort your relations in 4 categories: Family, Friends, Colleagues, and Other. BirthDay uploads the data from the AddressBook, so if you have used other application, you don’t need to upload your contacts again. The data will be reconciliated with the AddressBook, that makes it easy to search and edit. At the contact field  the mail and sms functions are active thus enables you to send sms or mail.

These functions are available in the lists as well not only in the Info panel where you can see detailed information (nick name, notes, years). The lists can be freely customised, realigned, or changed by the rankings.

Finally you can add notes to contacts, so you can record what you bought last year…

Using the pmg PassCode program you can easily and safely store and handle your passwords, e-mail address, bankcard data, as well as your internet access.

It is important to know, that our program stores your personal data in categories. These categories (e-mail addresses, bankcard data, website logon password, etc) can be modified  and edited as you like, but you can even set up new categories. Categories work as a templates, and if you use them well at each passwordtype, then you can store your data easily.

Apple judges the program in 1-2 weeks, hopefully the developers of Apple will wellcome our application and authorize it within a few days. The program will be launched at 70% discount in iTunes, containing detailed description and screens. Till then, please find attached a picture:)

Primarily the program will be available in three languages: Hungarian, English, and German, then in the first update Spanish and French languages are planned  to be introduced as well.

There were several problems with Hungarian, as it is not supported by Apple basis, but at the end we managed to solve them.

The opportunity of exporting and synchronising data (passwords, personal data, logon ID, email access etc) slightly “frightened” my colleagues and friends. So, there are different views about it: some say it is definitely useful because your data are safely stored, while others think it is totally unacceptable that data can be exported, meaning “my wife gets an access to it” when I save my data to my PC.

The iTunes security savings will automatically save the program and the whole database. Should you accidentally delete the program, the database will be synchronised again, but “who knows”… I would personally plan a eMail and/or CSV export, in order to save all my data in one place , but “tastes are different”…

They must have done something wrong, but what?

In my opinion, the success of an application is based upon four factors:

1. Idea
2. Usability
3. Execution
4. Look (design)

First of all, to make a program, you need a good idea. Well not quite. Why do I state something and then question it immediately? The answer is simple: To make a successful application you don’t necessarily need a completely new idea. By rethinking an existing albeit not perfectly accomplished idea and taking it further you can achieve the same result.

Having an idea is necessary but not enough. Just think of how many great ideas, products, and services have failed in the world. From the user’s point of view, it’s the application’s usefulness and clean usability that matters when making a decision. How a program does or does not serve its purpose is mainly determined by thorough planning, or the lack of it. Important rule: before you start developing an application, make a plan that covers every tiny detail, from the wording and look of the start-up screen to the last menu item. You can save a lot of time and effort by that and your product will reflect the care and attention you had paid to it.

I’ve seen countless iPhone applications in the Apple AppStore (non-game apps mainly) that are well planned, well thought-out and are based on a good idea, but when it comes to execution and design, they fail. When looking at the product, it just doesn’t give the impression of a well written program, instead I feel it could have been a lot better and nicer with just a little more effort.

Since it’s the graphical interface that the user can see of the program primarily, you may well say that design is what sells the application. With an eye-catching interface, your application is almost sold, provided the user is happy with execution and usability, too. The iPhone makes this easy for us. Even developers with less advanced design skills are able to create nice looking applications thanks to the huge variety of pre-defined elements and effects available in the SDK.

A recurring problem is that developers can’t see through the eye of the user, but if they manage to, they’ll find the path to users and to success.

Adobe Illustrator is a vector based program that enables you to draw even TabBar icons perfectly (in real size).  It is important for the program icon to look good at different sizes, that is why we use vector graphics to design icons. This way, if you enlarge or reduce the size, you will always get the same smooth and sharp image. If you try this in Photoshop: 1.) the images will fall apart due to the conversion of  raster points. 2.) You need to redraw your graphics for each different size version.

Since the program icon is 57×57 pixels in size, and you need to provide a 512×512 pixel size version of the image, it is recommended to draw the icons and illustrations in vector from the beginning so you don’t have to work twice… Just a little bit perhaps Bear in mind that rounded corners and 3D reflections are rendered automatically over the icons by iPhone, so you don’t need to do that unles you want to preview the final look on your monitor. (If you click the image, you can see samples of our icons which will appear in pmg PassCode.)

Each of the more than fifty icons of our password manager pmg PassCode were created like that. The the basic illustrations are vector based, lighting and backgrounds were added in Photoshop.

The iPhone’s interface is 320×480 pixels, RGB color. All six themes in the pmg PassCode were originally designed, so it will be easy for us to create new themes for you for later upgrades, provided there’s a need for them of course The application is currently in beta testing phase, several bugs and small glitches were repaired yesterday, however, the basic functions, category handling, settings are completed and fully operational.
 

I know that several apps are available in the AppStore to handle this issue, but to be honest, they just don’t appeal to me. They just don’t look good. They are not what I expect from an app running on an iPhone. So because I couldn’t find a proper one, I and my colleagues created one.

One that should appeal to everyone.

In pmg PassCode you can basically organize your passwords, login or other confidential, personal information, or eMail accounts into categories. Of course, categories can be freely created or modified.

By default, the program will list the following pre-defined categories after installation:

• Websites
• eMail addresses
• Credit card information
• PIN-codes
• Customer services
• FTP servers
• SSH servers
• Database servers
• Other notes
• etc.

The elements and structure of the categories can be modified, edited or deleted. The passwords stored in the app can be manually added or generated, passwords and codes can be copied and pasted in Safari immediately.
